Employing an apprentice or trainee

The first step in employing and apprentice or trainee is to decide what you're looking for. Then you find the apprentice or trainee. You can recruit directly, advertise the position, get in touch with a local employment agency, or contact a group training provider. TAFE Queensland can even connect you with job-ready candidates who have already completed basic workplace training with us.

Next you sign and lodge a training contract and plan. Then you must register the apprenticeship or traineeship. Your local Australian Apprenticeship Support Network (ASSN) provider can help. Finally, you must complete a probation period.
