World-class education and training
Queensland has an international reputation for excellence in all areas of education and training. The Queensland approach to vocational and technical education is now recognised as among the best and most innovative in the world. Queensland education and training institutions are leading the world in the development of technology-based learning.
Quality assurance
Australia is firmly committed to providing quality education and training and offers strong assurances to international students. Institutions must be registered with the Australian Government and meet special registration conditions enabling them to deliver courses to international students in Australia. The Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS) lists all providers registered to offer courses to people studying in Australia on student visas and the courses offered.
Safe multicultural society
Australia is a safe, friendly, sophisticated and harmonious society in which students can learn and travel in an English-speaking country. People from about 200 countries have migrated to Australia, making Australia one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world. The multicultural nature of Australian society means international students are readily accepted by other students, and teachers are experienced in teaching classes to students from many countries. Australians are open, friendly people and students will find a warm welcome in Queensland.
Value for money
Australia offers excellent value for money, with living expenses and tuition costs in Australia considerably less expensive than other English-speaking countries. Queensland is generally more affordable than other major cities in Australia.
English-speaking country
Australia leads the way in English language training. Students from around the world come to Australia each year to enjoy the challenge of learning English in an English-speaking country - for study, work, travel or personal reasons. Australia's flexible English language institutions cater for everyone from beginner to advanced to teacher training. In Australia, English language training is closely regulated to ensure the highest standards are maintained. There are standards for class sizes, professional teacher qualifications, curriculum, teaching methods and materials. Students will have access to excellent facilities.
Qualification recognition
Australian qualifications are recognised by employers and leading educational institutions in many countries around the world. Most courses and training undertaken by international students in Australia on a student visa are covered by the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). The AQF is a national system of learning pathways which is endorsed by the Australian Government and recognised throughout Australia and by other countries.
Student support services
Pastoral care and student support are an important part of Australia's education system. Support services for international students are well resourced, quality assured and can be enjoyed in a safe and welcoming society.
Qualified and experienced teachers
In addition to the high level of academic qualifications, our teaching staff have cultural knowledge and strong international business networks, thereby preparing students with the skills of today and demands of tomorrow.
Understanding Vocational Education and Training (VET)
VET stands for Vocational Education and Training. VET is a national system designed to skill workers to work in particular industries and is underpinned by a National Training Framework. VET works on a nationwide level, covering four levels of Certificate, Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas, Vocational Graduate Certificates and Vocational Graduate Diplomas within the Australian Qualifications Framework.
Australia's VET providers offer a wide range of training options in many popular fields including computing, business studies, marketing, tourism and hospitality. VET courses provide students with skills, called national industry competency standards, which employers have identified as critical to their work needs. These standards form the basis of assessment and students graduate as soon as they demonstrate their achievement. The emphasis in VET is hands-on skills development, with training ranging from simulated work-places at the training institution to workplace-based learning and may include flexible, self-paced learning and/or online training as well as formal assessment to see whether the student is competent at the skill or not.
