Apprenticeships are offered in jobs that require a high level of skill. Upon completion of an apprenticeship, a person receives a certificate qualification and is considered to be qualified in their trade. This usually means they can work on their own and supervise staff.
Traineeships can be undertaken as a way to gain entry into a job and acquire skills. Upon completion, a person receives a certificate qualification as evidence of their skills.
There is also the option for students to undertake an apprenticeship or traineeship while at school. Employers looking to recruit a school-based apprentice or trainee should make contact with local high schools in their area.
TAFE Queensland helps thousands of businesses and students with their training needs, delivering a suite of apprentice and trainee services, pre-apprenticeship, post-trade training programs, as well as customised training solutions designed to suit individual business needs.
If you have recruited an apprentice or trainee, TAFE Queensland will work with you and your apprentice or trainee to develop a training plan, deliver training, assess their skills and issue their qualification upon completion of the training.
